Edith S Kolbe Mrs. Wesley, 96, of Appleton, was called to her eternal home on March 30, 2018. She was born April 22, 1921 in Sheboygan WI, the daughter of the late August and Norma Hoyer.
Edith was a graduate of Sheboygan North High School and following high school was employed by Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company.During this time, she spent many hours writing daily letters to Wesley Kolbe who was serving with the US Army Air Force in Europe during World War II.When Wes returned home, the couple was married on October 12, 1946.They shared 58 years together, spending most of their married life in Appleton.
Edith was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was the foundation for her life, which somehow makes it fitting she passed into eternal life on Good Friday.She was a member of Ridgeway Country Club where she enjoyed playing both golf and bridge.Edith was an accomplished seamstress and a lifelong Packer fan.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Lynn Kolbe (Ken Lederer) of Appleton and two granddaughters: Wendy Werdin (Brian Shaffer) of St Paul, MN and Katie Werdin (Patrick Carlone) of Roseville, MN. She is further survived by two nieces: Lois (Fred) Hoebel and Kathy Smith; and a nephew, Jim (Earlene) Hoyer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wes; an infant son, Terry; and her brother, Norman Hoyer.
Funeral services for Edith will be held at 11 am on Wednesday April 4, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, Appleton with the Reverend Dan Thews and the Reverend Dennis Ellisen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Memorials for Edith may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church radio ministry or to the Fox Valley Humane Association.
