Eugene L Heller
‘Gene’, 86, formerly of Green Bay, passed away on March 2, 2018 in Milwaukee, WI. He was born on Sept. 17, 1931 in Appleton to Leo and Elsie (Muenster) Heller. Gene graduated from Appleton High School in 1949 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Appleton. He later completed a Master’s in Mathematics at Wayne State Univ. in Detroit. Gene married Maurine Kelley and together they raised three daughters.
Gene was a well respected high school math teacher for over 35 years. He taught at both Madison Heights in Royal Oak, MI and Preble High School in Green Bay. He will be remembered as a kind and caring man who enjoyed the arts, travel, sports and loved playing cards. However, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his three daughters: Mary Heller and Cathy (Bob) Pestka both of Milwaukee and Sue (Dave) Anderson of St. Croix Falls, WI and their children: Ben Anderson and Haley Anderson; a sister Elsie Stoegbauer, Appleton.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maurine; a brother-in-law, James Stoegbauer and a dear friend, Coral Lee MacKay.
A Mass for Gene will be held at 11:30 AM, Wed. March 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton with Rev. James Leary O.F.M Cap officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may visit the family directly at church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until the time of Mass. Memorials may be made to Lawrence University Student Scholarships (Appleton, WI) or Aurora Zilber Family Hospice (Wauwatosa, WI).
