Kathleen "Kakie" Jean (Killian) Lynch

February 27, 1928 ~ January 29, 2018 (age 89)

Kathleen “Kakie” Jean Lynch, age 89, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Appleton.  Kakie was born in Watertown on February 27, 1928 to the late Arthur and Crystal (Hathaway) Killian.  She graduated from Watertown Senior High School with the class of 1945.  On June 16, 1956, she was united in marriage to Charles Lynch.  The couple enjoyed 58 years together until his passing in 2015.  Kakie worked for the Appleton School District as a teacher’s aide from 1976 – 1990.  She enjoyed needlework, knitting, sewing, playing bridge, genealogy, puzzles, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.  She was very active in the community with the Fox Valley Genealogy Society, Retired Educators Association, Outagamie County Historical Society, Friends of Mosquito Hill, New England Historical Genealogy Society, and the Zion Lutheran Church Choir.  Kakie enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren on Elderhostels and volunteering at the Goodwill offices in Menasha.

She will be missed by her four children:  Melanie (Jared) Bailin, Appleton, Thomas (Sheila) Lynch, Black Creek, Laura (John) Koehnke, Appleton, and Emily (Jeff) Otto, Kiel; 10 grandchildren:  Joseph Bailin, Jenna (Jordy) Krall, Jason Bailin, Nicholas (Allison) Lynch, Megan (Chris) Leeper, Alissa and Heidi Koehnke, Isabelle, Annabel, and Krystabel Otto; and sister, Roberta Kuhnke, Pewaukee.  She is further survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Joan Quay, brothers-in-law Harry Quay, Donald Kuhnke, and Lawrence Lynch; sister-in-law Bernice Lynch and her niece Beth Quay Moore.

A funeral service will take place at 11 am on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, with Rev. John Czarnota officiating.  Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family thanks all the friends of Kakie (and Charlie) for their love and friendship for the past 65 years.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and Compasses Hospice for the compassionate care given to Kakie.
