M.G. Oettinger “Mick”, age 85, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 22, 2018. After graduating high school, Mick attended St. Norbert College in De Pere. After graduation he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and he was united in marriage to Judith Berceau. The couple enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Mick worked for the Social Security Administration for 29 years. He played hockey, tennis, football and pool. Mick loved all kinds of music – he played the trombone and sang with several church choirs. He enjoyed riding his bike as much as he could, but most of all, Mick loved spending time with kids – especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a longtime member at St. Bernadette Parish where he taught Catechism for many years.
Mick will be missed by his wife Judy; two daughters: Elizabeth (Chuck) and Amy (Todd); son Andrew (Michelle); 7 grandchildren: Justin (Cathy), Tiffany (Harry), Christopher (Angi), Brandon (Katie), Austin (Keely), Devin and Logan and 6 great grandchildren: Andra, Landon, Finnigan, Ruxin, Evelyn and expected great grandson. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial mass will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, March 28, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 Lourdes, Appleton, with Father Donald Zuleger officiating. Friends and relatives may visit at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for Children’s Hospital has been established.
