Marilyn Jean Rice

70, Appleton passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sat. June 29, 2019 following a second courageous battle against cancer. Marilyn was born on April 27, 1949 in Oconto Falls, WI, the youngest daughter of Clayton and Ruby Haley.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 49 years, Merle ‘Craig’ Rice and two children: Jason (Bonni) Rice and Erin (Jason) Denzer; a granddaughter Annika Rice; two sisters: Virginia Radtke and Kathy (Bill) Kamke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Alexander Rice and brother-in-law Gary Radtke.

Marilyn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She worked as a hairdresser for 49 years and loved her clients and co-workers. She also loved spending time at Loon Lake with her family and friends. Marilyn was a great cook and loved to bake. She loved to play video games, cards, board games and there wasn’t a puzzle she couldn’t solve. She loved to decorate for all holidays, but Halloween was her favorite; the house was filled with fun Halloween decorations the entire month of October.

Friends are invited to share in a time of Celebration for Marilyn from 4 – 6 PM at Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel on Wed. July 3, 2019. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: ThedaCare Foundation-Capes of Hope program and Fox Valley Humane Ass. as Marilyn was fond of both organizations. Words cannot express how deeply she will be missed by all the lives she touched.

The family would like to thank nurses at ThedaCare and ThedaCare Hospice. You are angels.
