Mary Theresa Karras
On January 30, 2018 God welcomed Mary home. Mary was born January 26, 1930 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Martin Schleis and Magdalena (Redzinski) Schleis. After high school graduation she met the love of her life, George Karras. They married in 1949 and lived in Appleton, Wisconsin throughout their 66 years of marriage.
Mary found excitement and joy in her many interests which included art, gourmet cooking, sewing, traveling, watching Green Bay Packers' games and making her home a place of beauty. She greatly enjoyed gathering friends and family in her home. Her interest in many art mediums led to earning a BA and teaching art at Xavier High School. Mary also helped with specialized gourmet cooking and fine- tuning recipes for Karras' Restaurant. In addition, Mary did the interior design to give the restaurant its pleasant dining atmosphere.
Mary will be greatly missed by her 4 children: Linda (Roger) Pasch, Marcia (Robert) Falsarella, Gregory (Patti) Karras and Stephanie Karras, and by her 8 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband George, her parents, and by her 2 sisters: Rose (Schleis) Frolik and Margaret (Schleis) Defrance.
A Mass of Celebration for Mary will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Appleton with Rev. Jim Lucas officiating. Entombment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday directly at church from 9 – 11 AM.
Mary’s family would like to express gratitude to St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville, WI for the loving care and compassion Mary received.
