Mary Jane (“Jane”) McClenahan of Appleton, age 71, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 with family at her side after a courageous fight against cancer.
Sweet, thoughtful, kind or, most often, nice is how Jane was known throughout her life by the family, friends, coworkers and clients who loved her.
Jane was born on Sept. 28, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio. She spent most of her adult life in and near Cleveland, Ohio and Neenah, Wis., where she raised her two daughters. She lived most recently in Appleton, close to the family she loved. She treasured her lifelong friends in Ohio, who she had just visited in July.
Jane was a business representative for Apple computers for over 30 years, and her clients praised her knowledge and love for her work and the special attention she always gave them.
Jane loved music, reading, PBS, movies, and walks in nature, especially among woods and forests wherever she lived. She enjoyed gatherings with friends and family, and especially spending time with her grandsons, who will very much miss their Nana.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Judi Zimmerman (Tom) Ditzler and Beth Zimmerman (Will) Van Epern, as well as her three beloved grandchildren: Diego Ditzler, Aidan Van Epern and Jack Van Epern. She is also survived by her siblings, Catherine McClenahan, Marg Chapman and Bill (Suzann) McClenahan, and her niece Kate McClenahan. She was preceded in death by her parents, William S. McClenahan and Mary Louise (Weber) McClenahan.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Brettschneider Trettin Nickel Funeral Chapel, 606 N. Oneida St., Appleton. Visitation will be from 9 am until the time of service. Memorials in Jane’s name may be made to the American Lung Association or the PAN Foundation.
She has left us much too soon. We hope her kindness lives on inside of us.
