Viola Edna (Konkle) Rickert, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at her home at the Renaissance in Appleton.  She was born on January 20, 1926, to the late Joseph and Berdina (Smith) Konkle.  Her elementary school years were spent at Immaculate Conception School in Oneida.  In 1944, she graduated from Freedom High School.  Following graduation, she worked as an operator for the Wisconsin Telephone Company in Appleton.

Viola was united in marriage to Roy Rickert on September 7, 1948 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom.  She was a charter member of St. Thomas More Catholic Community where, for many years, she volunteered bringing communion to the sick.  She also helped bring meals to shut-ins with Meals on Wheels.  She kept busy raising her family and enjoyed playing bridge and golf with her long-time friends.

Viola is survived by her husband, Roy; sons David (Virginia), Appleton and Kenneth (Patricia), Brookfield; daughter Nancy (Craig) Witty, Winnetka, IL; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  She is further survived by sisters-in-law Joyce Konkle and Phyllis Konkle, brothers-in-law Joseph (Pat) Rickert, John (Joan) Rickert, and Tom Rickert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Jean Ann, grandson Evan Witty, step-mother Katherine Konkle, brothers Elmer Konkle, Urban Konkle, Vernon Konkle, sister Anita Gerritts, sisters-in-law Beverly Konkle, Bea Rickert, Dorothy Rickert, Kaye Rickert, Norma Rickert, brothers-in-law Richard Rickert, Robert Rickert, Rev. William Rickert, nephews Mark Rickert, Ronald Gerritts, and niece Yvonne Konkle.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, April 7, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1810 N. McDonald St., Appleton.  Friends and family may visit at the church on Saturday from 9 am until the time of mass.  Interment will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Cemetery, Freedom.

Vi will be incredibly missed by her family and all who knew her.
