Ann Fraser, age 85, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at her home, leaving a huge void in the hearts of those who loved her. Ann was born in Mexico, Maine, on March 29, 1936, to Edward and Verna Mason. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1953 and the University of Maine Farmington in 1957. On August 9, 1958, she married her high school sweetheart Thomas P. Fraser, and they enjoyed 41 years together until his passing in 1999.

Ann started her teaching career as a high school home economics teacher, but her true love of teaching blossomed while working in elementary schools in Rumford, Maine, and Holy Cross in Kaukauna.

An avid reader, Ann was never without a book. She was a frequent patron of the Paris Hill Library during her stays in Maine and volunteered at the Appleton Library. Ann enjoyed her book and knitting clubs, daily word puzzles, and hair appointments with Randy, Ann was an apple crisp connoisseur, an exact follower of recipes and measurer of ingredients (nicknamed "Picky in the Kitchen" by her grandchildren). She never missed an opportunity to share a treat.

Wherever she went, Ann made friends. She leaves behind people near and dear to her heart, including lifelong friends in Maine, friends from her teaching days, the Cardiac Rehab cohort, and neighborhood friends, both two and four-legged. The family would like to deeply thank the Genda family and all the Appleton friends who became family.

Ann is survived by her children: Juliann (Tim) Stauder, Michael (Kerri) Fraser, Maribeth (Gary) and Tom (Lee Ann) Fraser; grandchildren Caitlin (Chris), Ian, Claire, Colleen, Sadie (Justin), Mitchell, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Calvin, Ruby, and Cora; her much loved brother James (Donna) Mason, or Brub as Ann affectionately called him. She also leaves behind many much loved nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to a celebration of life at the meeting place of the beloved Driveway Club on Wednesday, September 8th, 4-6PM. Details of a gathering in Maine will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable donations to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Paris Hill Memorial Library in Paris, Maine.
