Audrey Ann Long, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. Audrey was born in Little Chute on April 4, 1935, to the late Harold and Nell Marie (Van Boxtel) Hopfensperger. On October 26, 1954, she was united in marriage with Patrick T. Long in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The couple enjoyed 58 amazing years together until Pat’s passing in 2010. Audrey worked in the retail business for both Pranges and Younkers for 25 years where she met so many wonderful friends. She developed her love of quilting thanks to her dearest friend, Sue. This hobby was her passion in retirement. She also enjoyed many hours serving loved ones in her home which she was continually “updating” – as she called it.
She is survived by her four children whom were the “love of her life”: Timothy (Lisa) Long, Appleton, Todd (Jane Meissner) Long, Menasha, Jaye (Richard) Kuranda, Greenville, and Jill Hansen, Orange County, CA; 14 grandchildren: Patrick (Leisha), Melissa (Chris), Robert (Tracy), Stacey, Mathew, Brittany, Jacob (Jasmin), Jayzon, Shephard, Qon, Nyrie, Quinn, Paige, and Reese; 14 great grandchildren: Kylee, Devon, Grace, Chase, Noah, Azariah, Solomon, Audrey, Abigail, Isaak, Morgan, Gunner, Ivy, and Violet; 2 brothers: Gary (Barb) Hopfensperger and Dave (Mary) Hopfensperger; 2 sisters-in-law, May Hopfensperger and Suzanne Schrader. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Ken and Gene Hopfensperger, a sister, Bernice (Gus) Dercks, and brother-in-law, Fred Schrader.
A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, June 5, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 516 De Pere St. Menasha. Friends may visit directly at the church on Saturday from 10 am to 10:45 am. Inurnment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Little Chute. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
