Daniel M. Vander Heyden

September 19, 1964 ~ July 21, 2022 (age 57)


Daniel M. Vander Heyden, age 57, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer.  He was born on September 19, 1964 to Peter and Mary Lou (Liebergen) Vander Heyden in Kaukauna.  Dan graduated from Kimberly High School.  He worked for 33 years at Burger King. Dan enjoyed flying in his brother’s airplane where they would aviate to many different locations partaking in lunches and taking in the beautiful scenery.  He loved Arizona, where he was a local baseball and basketball manager.  Most of all, Dan loved spending time with his family, especially his nephews, great nephew, and great niece.

Dan is survived by his parents Pete and Mary Lou; his brother Tom Vander Heyden; his nephews John (Laura) Vander Heyden and Luke (Becky) Vander Heyden; great nephew Henry Vander Heyden; great niece Payton Vander Heyden; and many uncles, aunts, other relatives and close friends.  He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Martin and Elizabeth Vander Heyden and maternal grandparents Urban and Marcella Liebergen.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at BRETTSCHNEIDER TRETTIN NICKEL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 606 N Oneida Street, Appleton.  Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to thank ThedaCare Cancer Center and also ThedaCare at Home, for the compassionate care given to Dan.
