Obituary

Earl Charles Walker, age 96, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at The Renaissance in Appleton.  Earl was born an only child in Milwaukee on September 25, 1924 to the late Frank C. and Mae (Fischer) Walker.  Following High School, Earl proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was a Naval Air Specialist stationed in San Francisco on the USS City of Oklahoma.  He was very proud of his military service and lucky enough to make the Navy baseball team.  Earl moved back to Wisconsin and he lived in Valmy, which is in Door County and worked at the Chevy garage.  On May 31st, 1960, Earl was united in marriage to Dolores Vandenberg.  The couple enjoyed 47 years together until Dolores passed in 2007.  Earl worked as a mechanic for Yellow Cab and also owned and operated Walker-Hall Service Garage and worked at Kramer Ridge.  He attended night school while working and earned his BS from U.W. Stout.  From there he went on to NWTC and taught Auto Mechanics and some Welding retiring in 1989.  Following retirement, he taught part-time at FVTC.  Earl had a Master Craftsman rating. 

One of Earl’s most memorable moments was when he went on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC with his son, Steve.  He loved cars, playing baseball, bowling, and all sports.

He is survived by 4 sons:  Bob (Nancy) Walker, Escondido, CA, Jerry (Terri) Walker, Grand Rapids, MI, Bruce Walker, Fremont, and Steve Walker, Appleton; daughter Lisa (Conroy) Price, Pine River, WI; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dolores.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 14th at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St, Appleton, with Father Jude Egbuna officiating.  Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.  Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Bernard Catholic Church.
