Obituary

Eric J. “Rick” Lindberg passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on the morning of October 31st, 2021, at the age of 64.

Rick was loved and cherished by many people, including  his devoted wife: Becky of 40 years, his 4 children: Dan (Lindsey Lundgaard), Tony (Lisa), Carmen (Connor) O’Brien, and Claire; his grandchildren: Emelia, John, Alex, Hazel, Winifred, Nellie, and Lindsey’s boys: Evan, Logan and Ryan; his mother, Carmen Lindberg; siblings:  Karen (John) Gibson, Laura (Tony) Van Rooy, Suzy Lindberg (Joe), and John Lindberg; sisters-in-law: Wendy (Don Hill) Wisdom, Sarah (Alan) Jurgensen; brother-in-law: Mike Goss, and many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John, daughter-in-law Jessica, in-laws: Robert Goss and Mary Hermsen, and sister-in-law Peggy Goss.

Rick was born in Appleton and proudly made it his lifelong home. He participated in numerous organizations and enjoyed many hobbies. You could often find him on the golf course, in a deer stand or duck blind, sitting around a card table, fishing in Canada, or reading storybooks to his grandchildren on his lap. He always maintained a quiet yet strong faith.

Those who knew and loved him will remember Rick as a gregarious man with the largest personality and heart to match. Never wavering from his authentic self, he reminded us you can never sing too loud (while air-guitaring to Dire Straits), stay up too late (after one last “final-final"), share your opinions (regardless if one asked for it), or say ‘I love you’ too much (complete with both a hug and kiss).

Of all his roles and accomplishments, he was by far proudest to be called ‘Dad’ or ‘Grandpa’. Rick centered his life around the love for his family — he instilled those same values to his own children, who look forward to continuing his legacy of appreciating where you are and what you’ve been given.

Despite someone who was notoriously known as always late and the last to leave the party, we find peace knowing he was ready to be reunited with his father (JBL) at 'the crack' of dawn for a long-awaited hunt.

A Mass for Rick will be held at 4 PM, Friday, November 5, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church (312 S. State St.) from 2- 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Rick’s name.
