Jean Eileen Burmeister

age 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2022. She was born on December 18, 1930, the daughter of the late Grace Z. Belling. On June 21, 1952, Jean married her loving husband, Donald H. Burmeister. They celebrated 58 years together before Don passed away on August 1, 2010.

Jean was a life-long member of First English Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin, having been confirmed and married there. Throughout the years, she served on various committees, taught Sunday School, helped with Vacation Bible School, enjoyed attending Bible Studies and was a faithful member of the Sarah Circle. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Jean is survived by her three children and their spouses: Thomas Burmeister, Sr. (Joan), John Burmeister (Elizabeth), and Donna (Gary) Haberland; grandchildren: Thomas Burmeister, Jr. (Katie), Josef Burmeister, Cole, Kristofer and Sage Burmeister, Kaylyn (Mindy) Pedersen, Riley Haberland (Lucy Millard) and Sam Haberland (Lauren Vukovich); great-grandchildren: Maya Rae and Theo James “Teddy” Burmeister. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, her dear friend of over 80 years, Jeanne Johnson, her cousin, Sandy (Bill) Van Elzen, who Jean said was like a sister to her, her cousin, John Notebaart, and her Sarah Circle friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her father and mother-in-law, Chester and Clara Burmeister, her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Al Golz, her brother and sister-in-law, John and Nancy Belling, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cleo and Jack Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Jean’s name to First English Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice. The family would like to especially thank the staff and caregivers at Century Oaks Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at First English Lutheran Church, 326 E. North Street, Appleton, with Pastor Mary Bauer officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. The committal will be held at Highland Memorial Park.
