Joseph 'Jay' Drzewiecki
Appleton - Jay (77) passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 at Cherry Meadows Hospice after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jay was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend. Without a doubt he will be greatly missed by all who had the great fortune to know him.
He was born in Menasha, July 24th, 1942, graduated from Menasha High School in 1960 and graduated with a BBA in Marketing in 1966 from Milton College. On February 5th, 1966 he married Patricia A. Buss and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Jay began his professional career selling life insurance and in 1988 started what would be his final passion, Watermark Financial Services. Helping people plan their retirements until his in 2015.
Jay’s love of golf may have had him practicing more than actually playing. Unfortunately a hole-in-one was never in his bag.
Jay was the patriarch of his family and to know him was to love and respect him. If you grew up a relative there is little doubt that you learned how to waterski from Jay behind the yellow boat on Lake George. His passion for boating provided many years of sailing with Pat on Lake Winnebago and with his lifelong friend on Long Island Sound.
By the age of 14 Jay had earned an Eagle Scout award. This would be the first of many prestigious awards that would be presented to him. Others include Rotarian of the Year, Paul Harris Fellow and the Golden Beaver Award from Boy Scouts of America. If there was an award for loving chocolate, he would have won that too.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Veronica (Talarczyk) Drzewiecki.
Jay is survived by his wife Patricia; son, Todd Drzewiecki (Jeanine) and daughter, Tara; Grandchildren: Connor Drzewiecki, Nicole and Logan Stelzer (Tricia Litkey); Great Grandchild: Zayden Stelzer; Brothers: Paul Drzewiecki (Ann), Jack Drzewiecki (Clare) and David Drzewiecki (Barbara Fijak); Sisters: Jean Bruckner (Bill), Ann Jahnke (Ken), Julie Drzewiecki (Adam Martin). He is further survived by many other family members and countless friends whom he cherished.
Jay was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Karisny (Bob); Father and Mother-n-law, Ernest and Adeline Buss; Sister-in-Law, Susan Terrell (Ted); Nephew, Taylor Buss.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9th at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 W. Lawrence St., Appleton. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:00 am until the time of the service.
A very special thank you to the caregivers at Cherry Meadows, the nursing staff at AMC and the many doctors and nurses that took such great care of Jay during his battle with Parkinson’s.
