Keith B. Kabat

June 9, 1958 ~ August 22, 2022 (age 64)

Keith B. Kabat, age 64, of Neenah, husband, father and grandfather, passed away on August 22, 2022.  Keith, known by school friends as ‘bunny’ or ‘rabbit’ was born June 9, 1958 and raised in Kaukauna where he later met and married Karen Frederickson in 1981.  They started their marriage journey renting in Kimberly and a year or so later they moved into their first home that Keith helped build south of Kaukauna.  Keith was very involved in many building projects and loved the construction industry while working full time at Thilmany.  In a short period of time, he was able to develop and grow his passion into a business to the point of leaving Thilmany and established Kabat Builders, Inc.  Keith’s skill, talent and eye for detail enabled him to design and construct three additional homes for his family in the Darboy area while raising their two children. Keith found a lakefront cottage home to remodel in Neenah in 1998 where the family enjoyed 14 years of waterfront living.  Along with his son Tyler, he then built his zero-entry retirement home in 2011 where he resided for the balance of his life.  As a self-employed home construction contractor his business grew by referrals, creating several beautiful homes for family along with a couple of homes and many remodeling projects and additions for customers throughout the Fox Valley area.  Keith retired in 2020 to continue his other jobs of being a loving husband, father and a wonderful grandfather.  Besides his love of building, he enjoyed being a boat captain, a slalom water-skier, a snowmobiler, a pedal biker, biking some of the WI trails with the Tunnel trail and Northern Highland as a couple of favorites.  His love of family and zest for life had Keith on many camping trips and traveling throughout the state and the US.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Karen of Neenah, their son Tyler (Nichole nee Goetzke) Kabat and their two children, Gavin and Grace of Appleton, and son Nicholas “Nic” Kabat of Apple Valley, CA; along with his brother Kevin (Joyce nee Van De Hey) Kabat of Shiocton;  his sister Jenni Kabat and her partner Cheryle “Cher” Sullivan of Port Angeles, WA; Karen’s brothers and sister: Greg (Ramona) Frederickson, Gwenn Baumann and Guy (Kathy) Frederickson.  He will be further missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition, his dog Pippin, our traveling friends, Paul and Jill Stoeger and many clients, customers and fellow tradesman.  Keith was preceded in death by his son, Joshua Adrian Kabat in 1988; his parents Adrian and Helen (Jakl) Kabat; and many aunts, uncles and cousins along with his in-laws, Harold and Gen (Steffens) Frederickson

We would like to thank the ThedaCare Cancer Center (Dr. Poola’s team) of Appleton, Dr. Amy Cvengros and her team, Paul, Donna and the entire Goetzke family, the Kabat family, the Frederickson family, Fox Cities Home Buyers & Wisconsin Discount Properties Team, cousins Jeff & Pat Fletcher, Karen’s BFF’s as well as many others.  It sometimes takes a village and words cannot express the support and generosity provided to our family.

Honey, as you requested, this is for you: “F*ck Cancer!”  Thanks for the 41 years of family, fun and laughter. May you rest in peace and may your spirit soar in eternity.  With all my heart, Karen.
