LaVonne R. (Stokes) Luckow, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. LaVonne was born November 30, 1930 in Kaukauna to the late Oscar and Sadie (Engle) Stokes.She was united in marriage on June 6, 1953 to Leslie Luckow. They shared 60 years together with Leslie passing away in 2014.
LaVonne loved talking about her life growing up in Kaukauna with her siblings. She said they were fortunate and had a good life. The family ran a grocery store and were well known in the community. After achieving her degree in elementary teaching, LaVonne went on to teach for 10 years in the rural areas of Clayton Center, Brillion and Forest Junction. They were one room schoolhouses, and she taught multiple grade levels. She would then dedicate her life to working on the family dairy farm that Leslie’s parents ran. They did this for many years before they retired from farming and moved to Appleton, after which they participated in many flea markets.
LaVonne is survived by her sister Marguerite (Wes) Bevers Appleton; brother Richard Stokes of Kaukauna; nephews Jim (Peggy) Bevers, Tom (Sharon Auden) Bevers all of Appleton; and niece Sue (Bill) Gloede of Oshkosh.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Sadie Stokes; her husband Leslie; her father and mother-in-law George and Martha Luckow; her brother and sister-in-laws, Ken (Annalies) Stokes, Anna (Ebner) Schubring; Ida (Bernard) Leigh; Erna (Elden) Schnell; Elmer and Franklin Luckow.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Friday May 27, 2022 at 11:00 at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
