We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel
Marilyn Hallada, age 83, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on August 14, 1939 in Hofa Park, WI to the late William and Rose (Bluma) Borlik. Marilyn was a 1958 graduate of Pulaski High School. She continued her education at UWTC, and graduated with an LPN degree.
On August 21, 1965 she was united in marriage to David Hallada at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Pulaski. The couple enjoyed 56 years together. Marilyn was an LPN at Outagamie County Health Center (now Brewster Village) for 20 years, followed by 10 years as a Benefit Specialist in Human Services, retiring in 2001 with 30 years of employment in the county.
Marilyn liked to sew and quilt in her spare time. After retirement she greatly enjoyed going to quilting classes and made many new friends.
She loved spending time in the kitchen and it showed. She was an excellent cook and baker; her cut-out Christmas cookies were eagerly awaited by all. Marilyn and David enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and Washington, D.C. And they were always up for a casino bus trip.
Marilyn volunteered for decades at Sacred Hearth Parish in many capacities, as well as other organizations. Marilyn was an exceptionally kind, caring, and compassionate person; she always knew the right thing to say. She was quiet, yet strong, and was an amazing wife and mother; she meant so much to those that knew her.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by her two children, son Tim and daughter Cheryl (special friend Guy). She is also survived by her sister, Lillian Van de Yacht. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband David on August 17, 2021, parents William and Rose Borlik, brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Eleanore Borlik, sisters and brothers’ in law, Ceil and Joe Wierzba, Evelyn and Ollie Kroner, and brother-in-law Ted Van de Yacht.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45am on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont St., Appleton, with the Very Rev. Fr. John Katamba officiating. Visitation will be held in the Sacred Heart Room from 9:00am until 10:45am at the church. Private interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Theda Care Cancer Center or Sacred Heart Parish are appreciated.
Marilyn’s family would like to thank Dr. Jack Anderson for the wonderful care and compassion you gave mom over the years, especially these last four months, and Dr. Xin Yao and Molly for your care and compassion. A special thanks to Cherry Meadows for the wonderful care these last days. A special thank you to Marilyn’s nieces; Kathy, Susan, and Sharon, for helping us out with mom and for your support and the many visits, especially the last week.
Mom – We’ll miss you. You’ll be in our hearts forever
