83, Appleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Apple Creek Assisted Living. She was born on January 20, 1938, in Milwaukee to the late Elsworth and Ferne (Mueller) Ewig. Marilyn worked for the telephone company as an operator for many years and was also the union president of CWA. Marilyn wasn’t one to sit still. She enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Thompson Community Center and volunteered at Highlands and Lincoln Schools in the Reading for Success program. She was also a member of the Appleton Christian Women’s Club and cared for family members over the years.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Dawn Garcia, Appleton and Richard (Amy) Unger, Appleton; sisters: Karen Schultz, Appleton and Suzanne (Curtis) Sweet, Fond du Lac; a brother, Jerry (Cindi) Ewig, Neenah; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Peterson; a sister, Sally Jo Ewig; a brother-in-law, Norman Schultz and grandson, Joey Garcia.
A Funeral Service for Marilyn will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021, at First English Lutheran Church (Downtown site) with Rev Jeff Tengesdal officiating. Friends may visit at the Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 5 PM – 7 PM and again at the church from 11 AM until the time of service. Please have a mask on upon entering the church. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
