Mary Agnes Wagner, age 91, of Appleton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Brewster Village. Mary was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 3, 1929, to the late Daniel and Josephine (Baczynski) Zuraski. Following graduation at Messmer High School in Milwaukee, she attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing. On July 21, 1951, Mary was united in marriage to Edward A. “Eddie” Wagner in Milwaukee. The couple enjoyed 66 years together until Edward’s passing in 2018.
Mary worked as a Registered Nurse at Appleton Medical Center and then for the Visiting Nurses Association of Appleton where she ended her career. She was a long and faithful member at St. Therese Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, sewing, knitting, baking, and spending time at the “Zuraski Polish Palace” in Door County.
Mary was a joy to family and friends, as well as strangers. She was a constant source of love and wisdom for everyone.
She is survived by four daughters: Peggy Aertker, Mary Ellen (Terry) Sprotte, Julie (Jon) Post, and Sue (Billy) Frank; 9 grandchildren: Evelyn (Ben) Carlson, Anna (Jim) Harrelson, Alice (Aaron) Hollingsworth, Daniel (Christy) Sprotte, Sarah LeMoine, Peter (Colleen) Post, Cal (Whitney) Post, Nick (special friend Kelly Zoerner) Frank, and Tony Frank; 14 great-grandchildren: Henry and Wiley Carlson, Alyssa, Grace, Blake, and Logan Harrelson, Edward Hollingsworth, Olivia and Ethan Sprotte, and Will LeMoine, Ashton, Gavin, Audra and Caleb Post; 3 sisters-in-law: Helen Wagner, Theresa Wagner, and Carm Eheler. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings: Daniel Zuraski, Evelyn Washechek, and William Zuraski, son-in-law Roger Aertker, and brother-in-law Frank Wagner.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 9, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave., Appleton, with Father Ryan Starks officiating. Friends may visit from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Monday at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. Parish Prayer Service will take place at 5:00 pm Monday at the funeral chapel. Internment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Special Olympics and Leaven.
