We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel
Myong Hui (Kim) Boettcher was born in South Korea, in the year of the Tiger. This may explain her fierce personality. She was the second oldest child and only daughter, having six brothers. She met her husband Richard while he was stationed for work. They fell in love and were married. She put down new roots in the United States.
She worked at Zwickers and Wisconsin Tissue Mills for 25 years before retiring and following her dream to own a restaurant. She lived in Missouri running her restaurant for several years before returning back to Wisconsin to retire a second time.
Myong deeply loved her family. She was happiest when spending time with them. She loved the thrill of winning at cards and slots. Many Friday and Saturday nights were spent playing Hwatu with friends. She enjoyed watching Korean movies and loved Korean music. Cooking was a lifelong passion. She would plant a garden every year to cultivate favorite produce that is hard to buy in American grocers. She was skilled at making all types of food and made the best Korean dishes.
She passed peacefully at home on July 25, 2021. She is in Heaven with her father Jae Soo Kim and mother Yon Yu Kim. She will be deeply missed by her brothers Yun Kim, Young Kim, Kyi Kim, Kwang Kim, Sung Kim, and Byung Kim; and her husband Richard, her son William, and her grandson Patrick.
The family will be holding a private memorial service.
