Obituary

Nicolò died on April 10, 2021 from medical complications beyond his control. He was born in Sicily on July 20, 1956. As a child, Nicolò's favorite things were soccer and helping his father with the cows on their family Farm. His parents Giovanna and Giuseppe Sollena immigrated to the United States in 1975 with the whole family. Nicolò has two brothers: Matteo and Giovanni and a sister Giuseppina. One day going back to his hometown for a vacation, Nicolò met the love of his life, Giuseppina. With a heart full of love Nicolò asked Giuseppina Vitale to be his wife in 1984. In February 1989 Nicolò and Giuseppina gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and named her Giovanna after Nicolò's mother.

Looking for the American dream Nicolò and Giuseppina decided to move to Wisconsin to start an Italian restaurant in 1992. Nicolò was the hardest-working person you have ever met; no matter what the cost he would get it done. Together with his wife Giuseppina and his daughter Giovanna they opened Luigi's Pizza of Appleton on Edgewood Drive in Appleton, Wisconsin. For 10 years Nicolò worked hard teaching his daughter Giovanna the family recipes and skills to take over his Italian restaurant.

Nicolò loved road trips; the farther the destination the better it was. He especially loved going back to his hometown in Sicily. But the trip that Nicolò loved the most was sharing his adventurous time in Alaska with his two brothers brought him the most Joy anyone could ever ask for. Nicolò loved to play cards with his family and friends. If Poker was the game Nicolò was the first one at the table. Poker for Nick was all about relaxing and good conversations with family and friends; it didn’t matter who won or lost. If there was a soccer game on tv, especially his favorite team AC Milan you better hang on to that remote control because he wasn't going to give it back to you.

For Nicolò the most important thing in his life was family. And the bond he shared with his daughter Giovanna was Unbreakable. And the love with his wife Giuseppina will live on for a lifetime.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (324 Nicolet Blvd) Menasha, WI.
