Richard W. Penkala
“Dick”, 86, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his home. Dick was born in Illinois on July 21, 1933 to the late Edward and Stephania (Mazur) Penkala. Following high school graduation, Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. In August of 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Kaczmarek. The couple have enjoyed 66 years together. Dick proudly worked with his father and brothers: Stanley and Edward “Pinky,” at George Banta for many years, retiring in 1993. Dick loved golfing, bowling, his daily coffee group at McDonalds – but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Dick will be missed by his loving wife Dorothy, Appleton; daughter Karen (Chris) Wichman, Appleton; three grandchildren: Abby and Emily Wichman, and Christopher (Vanessa) Penkala; and a great granddaughter Lucy. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: David and Alan, and his brothers Stanley and Edward “Pinky.”
Due to the current circumstances, a private family service will be held. A memorial service will take place on a future date yet to be determined.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team at Compassus Hospice for the loving care given to Richard.
