Obituary

Sonja Juchniewich, age 58, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 with her husband at her side.  She was born in Saint Paul MN to Lew Schaar and Janice Jurek.  Following graduation from Harding High School in 1981, Sonja joined the U.S. Air Force and met her husband and best friend.

Sonja loved photography, movies, and spending time with friends and family.  She was generous, kind, and loved to spoil her nieces and nephews.  Sonja was a strong and beautiful person that touched the lives of everyone she met.  “You filled our lives with happiness, joy, and unconditional love that will always reside in our hearts and carry us through until we meet again.”

She is survived by her husband Bruce, and 5 brothers and sisters:  Garrett Schaar, Eagan MN, Scott Schesso, Saint Paul, MN, Brett Schesso, Hudson, WI, Holly Richie, Forest Lake, MN, Michelle Mahler, Osceola, WI.  She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Leroy Schesso.

The family would like to sincerely thank ThedaCare at Home hospice for their care and compassion for Sonja.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 25, 2022, at Brettschnieder-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, 606 N. Oneida St., Appleton, from 10 am - 12 pm followed by a prayer service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sonja’s name to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
